Snowball fights are a great way to ease any tension!

Now that we are well into winter, and nearly halfway through the grind of the school year, many students are looking for new activities that can provide a much needed change of pace. “The school year is a marathon and you have to change up your routine sometimes in order to get through it without going crazy,” said Matt Plaut ’13. So until the ease of the February break is upon us, here are some suggestions from your fellow students about how to pass some time.

Although generally played in the summer and spring, playing Ultimate Frisbee in the snow “is like football, but manlier and without the concussions,” said Brad Clark ’13. Another possible new sport is down-hill skiing. “It takes a while to get to a ski resort around here, but once you are on the slopes, it’s the most fun you will probably ever have,” said Jesse Kling ’13, a ski fanatic. But if you aren’t the athletic type, there are always the classic winter activities, such as sledding and snowball fights. And if you’re looking to make money, right after a heavy snowstorm, create a business with your friends and shovel out some driveways.

Despite the lure of playing in the snow, there is still important testing that occupies students’ schedules this time of year. “Personally, I love to make myself some hot chocolate and read over my notes, or a physics textbook,” said Gray Putnam ’13. Clearly, the winter is full of an array of opportunities that need to be taken advantage of to relieve the stress of school.
