This year’s “Musical Collage,” “From Cradle to College,” chronicled a child’s life from birth to high school graduation. The show included both quirky scenes and more serious acts, accurately portraying a teenager’s life. The production began with the birth of a child and progressed into those awkward middle school years and eventually high school.
The play ventured into specific moments of a child’s life--from fearing a first day of school to jazzing up college applications. The show discussed friendship and how it evolves over the years. It illustrated those carefree, young friendships and the way that they evolve in later years. “Musical Collage” realistically depicted how life for a kid can be both wonderful and horrible at the same time.
This year’s “Musical Collage” was a bit different from those in the past. “Musical Collage” used to take place in the spring. The show is now in the fall, replacing the fall play. There will be a winter play to compensate. In years prior, the show was closed off to seniors. From here on out, it is open to seniors and closed to freshmen.
Bill Derby, PACE music teacher, explained, “The changes were a way to help the new teachers get a feel for the program and the students here. It’s easier for the new teachers to work with students who have been in this play or crew before, than those who are new to PACE.”
The changes certainly didn’t affect the show’s quality. Those who saw “Musical Collage” only had high praise for it.
