Fantastic Mr. Fox debuts Nov. 25.
BY SARAH YALOWITZ
This month, the long awaited
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” will finally make its debut on the big screen. The movie is based on Roald Dahl’s
classic novel, which was first published more than 30 years ago. Its screenplay, adapted by director Wes
Anderson, as well as Noah Baumbach, relies heavily on the original text.
The story is about Mr. Fox, who, as a father, must find a balance
between practical responsibility and exciting adventure as he evades farmers
Boggis, Bunce, and Bean, from whom he repeatedly steals.
Not only does “Fantastic Mr. Fox” have a great story, but it also has an
amazing cast. George Clooney is
the voice of Mr. Fox, while his wife, Mrs. Fox, is played by Meryl Streep. The cast also includes Owen Wilson,
Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray.
Recordings for the film were not traditional; many were done outside,
and some were even done in attics and underground in an effort to make the
movie sound more authentic.
The setting was heavily influenced by Great Missenden, an English
village in which Roald Dahl lived, and the movie’s soundtrack features music by
the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox,” which will open everywhere on Thanksgiving, and has
been playing in select theaters since Nov. 13, and has already gotten a good
deal of positive press.
Thanksgiving is a time, whether for good or bad, of family togetherness,
and what better way to celebrate than to enjoy a childhood classic come to life
on the big screen!
